The NBA has announced that Phoenix will be the host city for the NBA All-Star 2027 event. The All-Star Game will be held at the Footprint Center, home of the Phoenix Suns, on Sunday, February 21, 2027. This will be Phoenix’s fourth time hosting the NBA All-Star Game, having previously hosted in 1975, 1995, and 2009.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver revealed the news during a press conference at the Footprint Center, joined by Suns Chairman Mat Ishbia and Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, along with a recorded message from Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego.
“We are thrilled to bring the NBA All-Star festivities to Phoenix in 2027, showcasing the city’s passion for basketball,” said Silver. “We look forward to working with Mat Ishbia and the Suns organization to create an unforgettable celebration of our sport.”
Ishbia expressed his excitement, stating, “Phoenix is an ideal basketball destination, and we are eager to welcome fans from around the world to experience our city. We are committed to providing a unique NBA All-Star Weekend that highlights the enthusiasm of our fans and the essence of our city.”
Governor Hobbs added, “Arizona is known for its top-notch sports and entertainment offerings, and we are excited to host NBA All-Star 2027. This event will showcase everything our state has to offer, and we are proud to partner with the NBA and the Phoenix Suns to bring this iconic event to Phoenix.”
Mayor Gallego chimed in, saying, “The City of Phoenix is honored to host NBA All-Star 2027 and put our city on the global stage. This event will bring excitement, energy, and economic impact to our city, and we are grateful for the opportunity to welcome fans from all over the world.”
The NBA All-Star Weekend will feature various events, including the NBA Rising Stars game, the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night with skills challenges and dunk contests, and the culminating NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. Additionally, there will be fan events, community outreach programs, and NBA Cares initiatives throughout the weekend.
Phoenix will also host the WNBA All-Star festivities in 2024.
In Phoenix’s NBA All-Star history, notable moments include Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal sharing MVP honors in 2009, Mitch Richmond winning MVP in 1995, and Walt Frazier leading the Eastern Conference to victory in 1975. These historic events add to the excitement of Phoenix hosting the NBA All-Star 2027.
