High school basketball coach in Massachusetts faces charges of sexually assaulting student in 2022

A Massachusetts high school basketball coach, Jesus Moore, has been charged with sexually assaulting a student in New Hampshire in 2022. Moore, 34, turned himself in to Manchester, New Hampshire Police and was charged with “aggravated felonious sexual assault.”

According to police, Moore arranged for a female student to be driven to Manchester, where he provided her with alcohol and sexually assaulted her at a motel in 2022. The victim was a minor at the time.

Moore has been the head boys basketball coach at Lawrence High School since 2018 and a gym teacher since 2017. Students and parents are shocked by the allegations, as Moore had a significant impact on students and the team’s success, with the team currently holding a 16-5 record and ranked ninth in the state.

Manchester Police were alerted to the case by Lawrence Police after a tip from SafeSport, a non-profit organization focused on abuse prevention. The organization aims to bring accountability and ensure the safety of sports environments.

In a statement, Lawrence Public Schools acknowledged the charges against Moore and confirmed that he is on administrative leave.

Moore was released on $1,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Manchester District Court on March 27. If you have experienced abuse or misconduct in the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement, you can report it to the U.S. Center for SafeSport at 833-587-7233.

Please note that this case is still under investigation, and any additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
