Latest Football Gossip: Wilson, Mbappe, Benzema, Broja, Duran, Branthwaite

Newcastle United is considering selling their English striker Callum Wilson for around £18m in the final week of the January transfer window. This has led to heightened interest from top Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Paris St-Germain’s star forward, Kylian Mbappe, has received offers from both Real Madrid and his current club to renew his contract. However, the 25-year-old remains undecided on his future, potentially opening up opportunities for other clubs such as Manchester United to secure new signings like Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior.

It is reported that Mbappe is leaning towards a move to Real Madrid, though the Spanish side’s offer falls short of his salary demands. Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has also expressed a desire to re-sign French striker Karim Benzema, currently playing for Saudi club Al-Ittihad.

In other transfer news, Bayern Munich is in discussions with Galatasaray to sign French right-back Sacha Boey, after ending their interest in Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier. Chelsea is among the clubs interested in signing Aston Villa’s Colombian striker Jhon Duran before the January transfer deadline.

There is also speculation around potential moves for young talents, with Manchester United reportedly showing interest in Ajax and Netherlands striker Brian Brobbey and Everton’s English defender Jarrad Branthwaite. Wolverhampton Wanderers are stalling on a £30m move for Chelsea’s Albanian forward Armando Broja as they work to comply with Premier League spending rules.

These transfer speculations come at a time of increasing managerial changes, with the Football Association of Ireland hopeful of hiring England Under-21 boss Lee Carsley as the Republic of Ireland’s senior manager, and Crystal Palace closing in on a deal to sign Colombia right-back Daniel Munoz from Genk.

The transfer window has also seen clubs like Blackburn Rovers plotting moves for players such as Queens Park Rangers’ Irish defender Jimmy Dunne and Ipswich Town targeting AFC Wimbledon and Iraq striker Ali Al-Hamadi.

As the January transfer window nears its conclusion, the unpredictable nature of football’s transfer market continues to keep fans and pundits intrigued as they eagerly await the final deals to be struck.
